The overall goal of this WP is to contribute legal, sociological and ethics expertise to the project. WP 2 performed a thorough analysis of the Directive from a legal perspective. The resulting annotated Directive can soon be found and commented on here. An analysis of national legislative, caselaw, and soft law responses to the Directive is underway.
Currently this WP is carefully analysing the Directive from a legal perspective and providing support for all other WPs regarding legal issues and data protection.
WP2 is chaired by David Townend, Department of Health, Ethics and Society, CAPRHI School for Public Health and Primary Care of the Maastricht University, The Netherlands. He can be contacted via email@example.com. For more information on the people behind this work package click here.
Current related activities of WP2 members:
- David Townend has perfrmed an in-depth analysis of the Directive and written an annotated version of it. The document is available here.
- Suggestion for strengthening of the committee structures used to discuss and develop best practices in relation to the Directive. WP2 points to an analogy already used in EU Data Protection Law to create a permanent, independent Working Group to bring representatives of Member State bodies together.
